Tattoo Artist Magazine

By Dawn Cooke This event is about donating a toy to a child in need. Every year around Christmas Depot Town Tattoo holds a toy drive. Front Street Tattoo, Mike Emmets shop in Traverse City, Michigan does the event also every year. Clients bring in a toy valued over $15 bucks and get a tattoo valued at least 50. We usually do 100-120 tattoos that day. We do this as a way to give back to the community. The toys go to Carrot Way Community Center for low income families who are struggling to get on their feet. They also go to Methodist Children's Orphanage to kids who don't have parents and kids who live in foster care...  I know what it's like to grow up without. There are people out there and kid out there who need help. It's not something to be ashamed of. It's something to learn from and if you find yourself in the position to share and give something back then you are lucky! It isn't about what you get back but I will tell you that it sure feels good. I would encourage anyone to think of clever ways to give back to your community. Maybe a canned food drive, or donate time to your favorite non-profit organization. Krooked Ken does a March of Dimes tattoo drive every year. I think he's great for doing it. If you don't know about him, look him up!!! [youtube] Happy Holidays everyone!!! With Love! Related TAM Blog Post:
