This has long been one of my favorite conventions each year and 2010 was better than ever. A million 'Thanks' to Horitaka and crew for doing such a fine job organizing and promoting the STATE OF GRACE show (as usual) and for taking such good care of TAM and all the attending artists/vendors.
On Sunday evening, following the power outage at our hotel (more on that later) and early-ending to the convention, my partner Kent Smith, friend Hunter Spanks and I all shared my usual sushi and sake (cold, unfiltered) celebratory dinner at the very fine Barracuda Japanese Restaurant.

During the meal we each discussed our favorite aspects of the weekend. It was an interesting exercise and this blog entry is the result. I hope it proves entertaining to readers.
It was really nice seeing Ed Hardy out and about at the convention again this year and being able to rummage through the many stacks of art/sketches he made available at the Tattoo City booth.
I think Ed was at least a little shocked at how much art he moved at the show. Ed arrived Friday with some of his fine porcelain pieces and small stack of sketches, studies, and needlepoint prints. He made himself available for pictures and discussions all day.

He did so well that Saturday he got up early and packaged even more art... blowing us all away! I managed to pick up a very nice piece from him (and I wanted about 10 more!) and our friend Chris Trevino walked away with at least five new pieces for his collection and one of those remarkable porcelain pieces. I also discovered that Debra Yarian (provider of our regular Sailor Jerry letters column) bought my favorite porcelain piece that weekend.
Kahlil Rintye took this great shot of Brian Bruno and myself joking around outside the booth. It's entitled, "Hey Ed! Hey Ed!"

Ed and I also discussed a potential feature on Tattoo City, including Ed, Doug, Kahlil and the rest of the crew. So keep your fingers crossed for that getting accomplished this coming year!
